Stronger Together: State and Local Cybersecurity Collaboration

National Governors Association (NGA) & National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO)

This report from the National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) on state-local cybersecurity collaboration highlights the National Guard's role in two state case studies. In North Carolina, the Department of Information Technology formalized an MOU with the North Carolina National Guard and North Carolina Emergency Management agency to help local governments remediate cyberattacks and conduct training. In Wisconsin, Army National Guard personnel are embedded directly in the state’s Cyber Response Teams alongside state agency and private sector professionals, providing training and incident response to local governments.
